| Opals are one of the most unique
gemstones as they shift and change into wondrous
colours depending on the light. They are also the
national gemstone for Australia as over 95% of all
opals are found here. In Aborigine Dreamtime stories
it is said that a creator of the earth came down
on a rainbow to bring peace to the world and when
his feet touched the ground it turned into shimmering
opals. There are three types of opals, the black
opal, boulder opal and the light opals.
The Opal is also the birthstone for the month
of October and the Anniversary Gemstone for the
14th wedding anniversary.
